Conch piercing jewellery for the flat bowl of cartilage in the middle of the ear. The conch is thicker than most cartilage, so conch earrings need longer bars and larger diameters than a helix or a tragus.
Conch earrings and studs
Flat back conch earrings at 8mm to 10mm bar length are the everyday option, and the larger surface of a conch carries a bigger decorative top than any other ear placement. Bezel set stones, discs and clusters all sit well here.
Conch hoops and rings
An orbital conch hoop wraps around the outer ear and needs a 10mm to 12mm internal diameter, sometimes larger depending on ear shape. Hinged segment rings at 1.2mm (16g) are the usual choice.
Sizing
Conch piercings are typically 1.2mm (16g), occasionally 1.6mm (14g). Measure the bar you are already wearing rather than guessing, as conch tissue varies between ears more than any other cartilage placement.
